Documents you need for Vanuatu citizenship
Six kinds of document make up the file. None of them has to be ready before the first conversation — this is so you know what the file looks like once it begins.
The checklist
1. Current passport
A clear copy of the photo page for every applicant, including a spouse and each child on the application. Check how long each passport is still valid before you start, so nobody has to renew in the middle of the process.
2. Birth certificate — and marriage certificate
A birth certificate for each applicant, plus a marriage certificate where a spouse is included. Together they show how everyone on a family application is related.
3. Police clearance
A police clearance certificate from your country of citizenship or residence. Which countries you need one from depends on your nationality and where you have lived. Police certificates are often the slowest document to obtain, so it is worth ordering them early.
4. Proof of address
A recent utility bill or tenancy document in your name.
5. Source of funds
A bank reference or statement showing where the investment money comes from. This is what the financial clearance stage looks at, so a clear paper trail is the single best way to keep that stage short.
6. Passport photographs
Taken to standard passport specification.
Your exact list
The precise list depends on your nationality and who you are including. It is confirmed for you in writing after the first call, so nothing is collected twice. If any document is not in English, ask before ordering copies whether it needs a certified translation.
How long collecting them takes
The programme itself typically runs 60 to 90 days from a complete file. The first seven working days go to FIU clearance; after that, the timeline depends mainly on how quickly your documents come together.
